Liz Reece-Heal, our newest member

Members of the Rotary Club of Callander & West Perthshire were delighted to welcome new member Elizabeth (Liz) Reece-Heal, when she formally joined our ranks on Tuesday 30th January having been a supporter of our projects and events for many months, in her role as a ‘Friend of Rotary’.  Formerly a Principal Teacher of Home Economics at a school in the Scottish Borders, Liz moved to Callander in May 2015, with her husband, Philip.  In the relatively short time since then, Liz has certainly immersed herself in community organisations: she is the Merchandising Manager for the local branch of the RNLI; and is involved in the activities of Greener Callander, the Wildlife Trust, the Callander Heritage Society, Callander Golf Club, the Summerfest and Winterfest committees, and in collecting for the Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).  Liz is also an active member of Callander Ramblers, and of several U3A groups in the town, where she leads the very popular ‘Knit and Natter’ group, an ever-growing gathering of creative people who meet weekly at the Reece-Heals’ home, where they do a wide range of knitting and craftwork…. and a fair amount of nattering, too!

We count ourselves extremely fortunate that this busy lady has also made time in her life for Rotary and we welcome the enthusiasm and energy which she will bring to our projects and activities, as our newest member.   Liz is living proof of the adage “If you want something done, ask a busy person”!

Liz was proposed by Peter Ireland and inducted by President Jen Shearer.  Welcome Liz!
