Story by Alan Blair. Photos by Ray Dawes.
“ On a cool and grey morning 23 Classic Cars ( and mine ! ) lined up at Dan
Tanner’s field in Burley for our 2018 Classic Car Rally. The Roger Lees Memorial
Trophy was awarded to Peter Boyland from Poole for his beautiful Rolls Royce
Silver Cloud S111.
The route was , as always, very interesting and we
drove through delightful countryside. Starting from Burley we went through
Cranborne Chase,Sixpenny Handley and ended up at the Langton Arms in Tarrant
Monkton. We travelled through Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset and covered about
60 miles…plus the inevitable wrong turnings.
The Club was represented by
Tim and Tina, Jim and Beryl, John K, Lawrie and I.
The lunch was fantastic
and was followed by a raffle and huge appreciation for Bridget and Sue Gully for
their amazing efforts to provide us all with another memorable day. The
work, time and effort which is needed to organise a very complicated event is
huge and all of who attended the event were able to give Bridget and Sue our
personal thanks. All of us in the Club owe the girls our thanks as the event,
not only showed our Club in a favourable light but raised in excess of £500 for
our Club Charity funds. Thank you girls.
We look forward to next year already !!
