Donation to Volunteer Link-up
An expression of thanks from the manager of Volunteer Link-up on receiving another donation from Witney Rotary Club
We received a letter of thanks from the manager of Volunteer Linkup:
I was delighted when I went into the office today to open the envelope and see the latest cheque for £1,000 from Witney Rotary. As I have said in the past, the generosity and support of Witney Rotary is most gratefully received.
I gave a talk today to a group in Aston, explaining our services and need for volunteers. At the end, a lady stood up, nearly in tears, and said that our service would be a godsend to her and her husband. They have both given up driving and her husband was recently diagnosed with cancer. His first treatment for chemotherapy was at 7 am and they really struggled to find their way to the hospital in Oxford (she wasn't aware of us until today). They were desperately worried how they would get to hospital next time, but we were the answer to her prayers. Due to the early hour of his treatment, Hospital Transport could not provide transport (although they are eligible due to the nature of his treatment), so having a volunteer driver would help them no end. And that's what we do - and want to continue to do, for West Oxfordshire residents. It's as simple as that. And Rotary helps us to continue to provide these vital 'social services
Thank you all so much. Please thank the members of Rotary for their kindness and generosity to us to West Oxfordshire residents. It is greatly appreciated. Please thank the members of Rotary for their kindness and generosity to allow us to help
