Scholarship Award
This annual award of £250 is given to an Academy pupil who has had to overcome significant difficulties. This year there were 2 nominations from the Academy. It was agreed that both were deserving cases and it has been decided that each will receive the £250 award. The award will be presented at our meeting on 5th March.
Activity and Resource Centre
President Neville Wright handed over a cheque for £1,000 from our Christmas collections to this deserving organisation which does so much for the less able in our community.
Donations agreed by Club Council
It has been agreed to make the following charitable donations. Council decided to follow the advice from our International Committee with regard to foreign donations.
SightSavers, Mary’s Meals and WaterAid – supported by us for many years - £200 each and which also attract matching grants from Rotary Foundation. Grants of £200 each were also agreed for 500 Miles (a charity which we have supported for several years) and charities new to us Malawi Smileawi (run by 2 Dunoon dentists), David Gordon Memorial Hospital (Malawi), and Nepal Science (towards providing science equipment and toilet blocks for 4 schools). We will also be running our annual Christian Aid Lunch in May.
There have been recent donations locally to the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme of £700 and £1,000 to our local Activity and Resource Centre.
It was also agreed that £500 be donated to Stranraer Hard of Hearing Group and £200 be provided to help the Befrienders Group take 4 children from the DG9 area to a ‘Big Day Out’ at Laggan Outdoor Centre

Our group of supporters and friends make good use of their season tickets to watch Glasgow Warriors. All of our group of 10 renewed their season tickets and were joined by 2 new supporters bringing us up to 12.
Our season ticket holders are again making their tickets available to Club members for individual matches which they themselves are unable to attend. It is essential that Tom Mitchell is contacted at an early stage before spares are offered to others.
A trip to for the Pro 14 Final on Sat 26th May has been arranged with cancellable hotel rooms close to the stadium booked. Contact Tom Mitchell if you are interested in attending any match including this trip.
