Dornoch win Primary School Quiz

The winning Dornoch team

On Thursday 8th March, Rotary Club of East Sutherland held their annual Primary Schools’ Quiz.  Eight local schools, Bonar Bridge, Brora, Dornoch, Golspie, Helmsdale, Lairg, Rogart and Rosehall took part. All the teams exhibited a very impressive range of knowledge, answering questions about a wide range of topics.  At the end of the regular 10 rounds, there was a three-way tie between Dornoch, Helmsdale and Golspie.  Thus, a further tie-break round was required, consisting of six general knowledge questions. When the scores were added up Dornoch emerged as winners, with the other two schools tied in second place.  The winners now proceed to the next round, to be held in Dingwall in early May, where they will meet the winners from other Rotary areas.  Pictured is the Dornoch team with Club Acting President, Roger Boyce.  Our thanks go to all the members who helped on the day, including providing refreshments; Harry Gow for the sausage rolls and the staff and children of the schools for taking part.
