ROTARY CLUB OF CHESTFIELD

Minutes of the Business Meeting

Held on Thursday, October 18th  2018

                                             At The Golf Club, Chestfield

Birthdays:

            Daphne’s birthday would have been tomorrow October 19th.

Grace:

            Paul came up short today.

Pippa Zintilis:

Pippa has seen her specialist, who is very pleased with her progress, and she hopes to be back very shortly.

Business Meeting:

A Board Meeting took place last Thursday, October 11th and the minutes have been circulated.

Hollamby Estates:

A big thank you is due to Hollamby Estates who have made a donation to the Club to purchase two Shelterboxes bringing to seven the number the Club has bought this year.

World Polio Day:

It is World Polio Day next week and Pat will be going purple.    She will be after Andrew B. for his donation and would welcome donations from any one who would like to chip in.     Hopefully, purple will last a bit longer than the orange.

Raffle Prizes:

There is an urgent need for good raffle prizes for the Quiz Night and volunteers are needed to canvas business in Whitstable, Tankerton and Herne Bay.

Rotary Radio:

Rotary Radio launched on Saturday, October 13th and details were circulated last week.

Club Accounts:

            David M. confirmed that the Charity Account has a balance of £1,933.41p       and the Club Account £14.50.

Crocus Corms:

The crocus corms are now available.

RNLI:

Pat circulated a letter of thanks from the RNLI for the Clubs donation of half of the proceeds from the Whitstable Harbour Day.

Saturday, October 13th, Car Parking at Whitstable:

This was another successful day.

Thursday, October 25th, Evening Meeting:

Just a reminder that next Thursday is an evening meeting when Hilary will be talking about her adventures in India.     As this is a regular Club meeting apologies should be sent to Godfrey as usual.

Friday, October 26th, Demelza Pumpkin Hunt, Whitstable:

Demelza is Pat’s charity this year and they would welcome help with their Pumpkin Hunt in Whitstable meeting at 10.30 am on Friday, October 26th.     Sue and Ron have signed up but more help is needed with car parking from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and with registering children and marshaling them on their hunt.      If you can help please contact Claire Battersby Community Fundraiser – East Kent on T: 01795 845293   M: 07825 094777W: www.demelza.org.uk .  Claire would be delighted to hear from you.

Sunday, November 4th, Car Parking at Whitstable:

The next car parking at Whitstable is on Sunday, November 4th and Godfrey would welcome more volunteers to help.

Thursday, November 15th, Love in a Box (Shoeboxes):

Kathy has the leaflets for Shoeboxes which should be handed in by Thursday November 15th.

Friday, November 16th, Murder Mystery Evening, Kent College:

Kent College Interact are holding a fundraising Murder Mystery Evening on Friday, November 16th and everyone is welcome: details will be in the folder.

Saturday, November 17th, Club Quiz Night:

This is now sold out.

Saturday, November 24th, Young Chef Competition:

Owain has been in touch with a number of schools and is waiting to hear from them.

Friday, March 22nd, 2019, Walk 4 Water:

Invitations have gone out to schools and, so far, St. Peters’, Swalecliffe and Hampton has agreed to take part.

Greetings from Other Clubs:

Sue brought greetings from a lady she met at car parking who is from RC Medway.

Raffle:

Lesley won a bottle wine, David M. a punnet of tomatoes and Marian a bottle of Babycham.

Master of Alms:

Nick’s little car was in great form and almost everyone coughed up except Andrew B. who claimed to have no money.      Hilary paid up because of the problems she had experienced trying to make a phone call on an air freshener.
