David and Anne Bowley:

Jackie has been in touch with David who had a fall at the Marine Hotel and it bruised but, fortunately, nothing was broken.       He has had his car adapted to hand controls so is now able to drive again.     Anne is also unwell and has to undergo a series of tests.

 John Graham:

It was good to see John back fit and well with Liz after his accident.

Godfrey will not be at Rotary next week and apologies should be sent to Dave C.  (Tel: 01227 740685, Mob: 07824 325037 Email: dave.coupland@yahoo.co.uk).

Brian White:

Brian was a long-standing member of RC Herne Bay who very sadly passed  away last week.      Condolences will be sent to his wife, Diana.    The funeral arrangements are to be finalised but it will probably be at Barham and, afterwards, at the Marine Hotel.

Emma Slade and Sue Hills:

The Club was very glad to welcome Emma and Sue who gave a presentation with an update on the work of Open Your Heart to Bhutan which included a photo of Emma with the Dalai Lama.    Sue has just returned from a trip to Bhutan and Emma will be travelling there next week.    The charity has raised £270,000 in three years of which almost every pound is spent on the charitable objectives on the two schools, East school which is a boarding school and the day school in the West.   In addition to English, maths and local language the focus is on vocational skills to enable the children to earn a living.    The children at the school are incredibly lucky as three quarters of special needs children in Bhutan have no education at all.

Raffle Prizes:

Pat and Jean still an urgent need for good raffle prizes for the Quiz Night on Saturday.    If you are coming to the Quiz Night and have anything suitable, please bring it with you.

The crocus corms are now available and need to be planted as soon as possible so please don't hang around if you want some.      There are still about half the corms unsold and they will be pushed at the Quiz Night.

Shoeboxes:

Kathy suggested that there might be more time to collect Shoeboxes but they are now being picked up from her on Tuesday, November 20th.      If members have a filled Shoebox and are coming to the Quiz Night she asked if they could please bring it with them.    Alternatively if they call Kathy she should be able to pick it up.
