Minutes of the Meeting
Held on Thursday, June 13th 2019
At The Golf Club, Chestfield
Jenny Samper:
The meeting opened with a minute’s silence in memory of Jenny who, very sadly, died suddenly at the weekend. She will be fondly remembered by everyone.

Robert Sissons:
Congratulations to Robert on the award of the Paul Harris Federation.
David Bowley:
David has been unwell with an infection that involved a short stay in hospital but he is now home and recovering.
Board Meeting:
There will be a Board meeting this evening at 7.30 pm at Sue’s house at 26 Joy Lane, Whitstable, CT5 4LT.
Raffle Prizes:
Jean is very short of raffle prizes and needs some more urgently.
Meal Steward:
Godfrey will be away for another week and Dave C. will be standing in as meal steward.. Please remember that Lesley will be taking over from Godfrey with effect from the meeting of July 4th.
Walk for Water Presentation:
At the meeting next week there will be guests from the schools which took part in Walk for Water when their certificates will be handed out.
Murder Mystery Evening:
The gory murder at Ron and Irene’s house has been postponed. It was scheduled for July 27th but will now take place to a date in September to be confirmed.
June 7th to 9th – Visit from Apeldoorn:
The visit from Apeldoorn was a great success and the Dutch seemed to really enjoy it despite being thrashed at table-tennis and forfeiting the squirrel. Thanks are due to Andrew B. who organised the weekend and to everyone who helped and hosted and especially to Jean and Andrew M. for hosting the BBQ at their home.
Saturday, June 15th – Barn Dance:
The Barn Dance is next Saturday at All Saints Hall, Church Street, Whitstable, CT5 1PG starting at 7.30 pm.
Sunday, June 23rd – Samba Band Walk:
More help is need with collecting on Sunday, June 23rd when the Samba Band will play along the seafront leaving Whitstable Harbour at 1.00 pm for Seaview Caravan Park where there will be a beach BBQ with donations towards the cost of the food. The walk will be in support of Pilgrim’s Hospice and Open Your Heart to Bhutan.
Thursday, June 27th – Handover Meeting:
The cost of the dinner at the Handover Meeting will be £17.50 per person. There is a form in the folder and Godfrey asks that everyone indicates on the form in the folder whether they will be bringing guests and whether or not vegetarian options are wanted. As this will be a regular meeting of the Club everyone is expected to attend unless apologies are sent to Godfrey as usual.
Saturday, June 29th – Car Parking:
The next car parking will be on Saturday, June 29th and Godfrey needs more volunteers to sign-up as soon as possible to help.
Tuesday, July 9th – Invitation from Herne Bay Rotary Club:
The Club has been invited to a private viewing of the exhibition in the Seaside Museum, Herne Bay on the Rotary Club of Herne Bay’s Telly-Go- Round. There will be a short talk by Nigel Isom, President of Herne Bay Rotary Club and wine and nibbles will be provided at cost of £5.00 pp. There will then be a joint meal at the A La Turka Restaurant starting at 8.00 pm at a cost of £16.00 pp. Numbers are limited so please sign-up soon on the form in the folder.
August 16th or 23rd – Bat and Trap Challenge Evening:
RC Whitstable has been challenged to a Bat and Trap contest at the Golden Lion in Broad Oak at a date in August to be confirmed but probably either 16th or 23rd.
Visitors and Greetings:
Sue brought greetings from the President of RC Bexhill via his wife who is a guide at Bodiam Castle.
Raffle:
Jean S., won a bottle of wine which she presented to Pat to encourage the few remaining little grey cells at the Board Meeting this evening.
Master of Alms:
Sadly Nick’s drains are back in good shape again so he was able to concentrate on extracting the maximum dibs from everyone.
