6.                Outgoing President’s Report on 2018/9

Pat opened by thanking everyone at the Handover Meeting and those unable to be there due to prior commitments and, of course, Jenny who, sadly, is no longer with us, for their help and hard work in making her year as President so enjoyable and successful.     The Club played bowls, both tenpin and lawn, and seen off all challengers at table tennis and bat-and-trap.     There have been many talks from interesting people and a range of fundraising events including the TWAM collection, Walk4Water, Charity Golf Day, the Xmas collection, Quiz Night, Harbour Day, Samba Walks and a Barn Dance and we also funded an amazing nine Shelterboxes.   Our Young Chef competition is nicely building in momentum.    Sadly, our formal link with Apeldoorn has come to an end but we will keep our association with them on a social level.        We have celebrated several events in the past year, the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Club, 100 years since the end of WWI and 75 years since D-Day.     We have welcomed one new member, Lesley, and Trevor as an honorary member and presented a well-deserved PHA to Robert.      Pat concluded by thanking the Board for their hard work and support during her year as President and she looked  forward to another successful year as Sue takes up the reins.   She then presented flowers to Sue the incoming President.

7.                     Handover to Incoming President, Sue Vargyas

Pat then handed over to the Presidential regalia to Sue who then took over the meeting and thanked Pat for a very successful year and handed over to her the Past-Presidential regalia and presented her with flowers from the Club

9.                     Incoming President’s Plans and Objectives for 2019/20:

Friendship and fellowship is the Rotary motto and Sue emphasized that                     she intends to continue to bring all members to work together to support                        and fundraise for the charities that the Club supports and to have fun                          while doing so.    Her personal charities for this year are Alzheimers                              Research, Hi Kent and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf all of which are closely                        linked.    Wherever possible, the Club will continue to support local groups                that come with requests for help..     She encouraged all members to                                   support any of our Charities of their choosing during the year by                              organising a personal fundraiser whether it be a dinner, coffee morning,                        an individual challenge to themselves by asking for friends sponsorship or                      anything they can think of.  Sue’s own personal challenge is to do a                             sponsored Tandem Skydive next spring.      The Club will, of course,                            continue with its established social and fundraising activities but Sue                                would always welcome new ideas from members.   Sue thanked the team                 of Committee heads who will take the Club forward in the coming year               and, especially, David M. for continuing as Treasurer and holding the Club                 together.    Finally, she encouraged club members to join the Committees                   that most interest them so we can all continue to work as a great team.

9.                     Congratulations

Congratulations and thanks to Nick assisted by Paul as Master of Alms for                 raising £673.81 and to Jean S. for running the raffle which has raised                          £953.50.    David M. summarised the other donations made by the Club in                2018/9 and a full list is attached.
