Helping with impact of disability, and traumatic events in Bangladesh
Children and adults with physical and multiple disabilities in Bangladesh who are unable to pay for their treatment will benefit from specialist medical equipment which we are fundraising to provide. Your donations are welcome to increase the funds
The equipment includes an IFT (Interferential Therapy) Machine and materials to enable the centre to create artificial limbs for patients in rural areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj Districts.
Funds raised will help Jalalabad Disability and Rehabilitation Centre and Hospital with the impact of disability, chronic illness, and traumatic events (such as traffic accidents) on poor households and help patients regain their independence and livelihoods.
This project is made possible by the co-operation once again of Stafford Rotary Clubs and Eccleshall Mercia RC. The funds raised so far amount to £2,200 including a Rotary Foundation grant, further donations are sought and a fund raising Asian meal took place on 30th September 2018.
The Disability Centre is managed by Rotarian Dr.Monzurul Hoque Choudhury, past District Governor of Bangladesh District 3282 and has strong links with the local Rotary Club of Jalalabad.
The disability centre is well known to Sylvia Keris, President of the Rotary Club of Eccleshall Mercia in 2017/18 who carried out voluntary work there in 2012 under Dr.Monzurul Hoque Choudhury’s supervision. Sylvia was able to see the invaluable work of the Centre, and the great needs coming from the community.
