Purple 4 Polio Grand Tour
Mon 21st May 2018 at 09.00 - Thu 24th May 2018 - 23.00
Rotary’s new drive to end polio is ready to go
The Purple4Polio Rotary Grand Tour is hitting the highways in May and has over fifty registered teams and their fabulous cars taking part. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes will be touring the country, raising money for End Polio Now as well as sharing the story of Rotary along the way. Taking part for the Rotary Club of East Sutherland is Rotarian Rob Pope. Rob has been busy in recent weeks raising sponsorship from Club Members and at local shops and events. He will also be raising money during the drive and all money raised will go directly to help eradicate Polio.
This adventure around Britain is taking place from the 21st until the 24th May 2018 and features some very quirky vehicles including a former builder’s truck which has had a major facelift.
The teams have a fun challenge ahead as they organise their own route, transport and accommodation. To help the intrepid travellers on their way, Rotary across the country is setting up a few check and photo points at places of interest where teams can have a break, get the logbook stamped or take a selfie near a landmark. Teams can drive as near or as far as they choose and there is no requirement to drive for all four days. It is hoped that all the teams will meet up at the finish line for the end-of-tour party at Halifax Minster on the 24th May (optional).
The cars will be hard to miss as they will have large vinyl car stickers which will show the world that they are part of the Purple4Polio Rotary Grand Tour and help you spot other teams.
