Steve Tullough, volunteer rider, told us all about local charity Northumbria Blood Bikes. They provide an out-of-hours emergency courier service to the NHS. However, it is independent of the NHS. They are a busy service and completed around 12,000 jobs in 2007. These jobs can be delivering not just blood but platelets, specimens, fluids and equipment.
