Speaker Robert Askew - Book Club Event

There was no outside speakers at the Club meetings on 17th and 24th of October instead there was a Book Club event on both dates. --------- Speaker Finder Robert Askew, Visitors Host, Grace and Banners Graham Robinson, Cash Desk Barrie Birch


The format of the meeting was be each member of the Club stood up and for about 5 to 10 minutes and talked about a book he had read and enjoyed.

The rules were: -
Please will members of the Club contact Alan Arthur stating their preference as to which evening they will like to make their presentation and the book they propose to talk about.
Do not let anyone know which book you will talk about as this will spoil the surprise on the night.
There will be a prize for the most interest book nominated.
The following criteria for books to be presented are:
Both Fiction and Non Fiction.
No long books e.g. War and Peace.
No Mills and Boon.
No children’s book.
No American Literature as the Americans have never written any proper books
No Russian literature as Russian books are depressing.
Nothing that relates to feelings and caring.
No car maintenance manuals.
No winners of the Whitbread and Orange book prize.
No Chick lit.
Anything about British shooting colonials.
Anything about wars against the Germans, French etc..
Anything of an erotic nature that can be easily hidden from the wife.
Any books that can be coloured in.
Pop up books.
