Plans for 2018 - 2019

Plans for 2018 - 2019

For 2018/19, the Committee proposes the following:-

  1. We will pursue a project aimed at tackling the problem of plastic waste: this has huge international consequences and is rapidly being recognised as a major environmental and social threat across the world. One real possibility is CleanSeas (whose website is www.cleanseas.org).

  2. We will seek to complete the Uganda Tree initiative, and will provide a report on the progress of this work.

  3. The Committee will continue to alert the Club to the need for responses to international emergencies. We will encourage the purchase of Shelter Boxes and will monitor the club’s involvement with the 5Cs charity and with the Rotary Foundation, including the End Polio project

  4. The Committee is very enthusiastic to continue the KIVA investment initiative. The control and administration of our contributions through KIVA is now fully functioning, and we will continue to report to the Club on these investments.

  5. The International Quiz is booked for Friday 25th January 2019.

  6. By their nature, International and Foundation projects do not provide much in the way of ‘hands-on’ activities. Members of the Committee will continue to provide assistance and support to our colleagues in the two other committees within the club. In turn, we are grateful for their support of International projects.
