Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 19th October 2018.
President Sandy Farquharson welcomed members to a business meeting of the club, reporting back on last week's meeting of the club council. We were pleased to hear that following a meeting between Scotrail and the contractors working on platform 2 at Stirling station all our planters will be cleaned or repaired. As we will now be making a charity collection at the Thistle centre on Friday 21st December there will no club meeting that day, and our Xmas lunch at the Golden Lion will now be on Friday 14th December.

There will be a special AGM on 9th November for the election of next year's office bearers. The club agreed to continue to provide drivers and fund the Arion bus service taking handicapped youngsters to swim, and we also agreed to pay for evening entertainment over the Winter months for the residents at William Simpson home Plean. Council is to investigate the provision of further Shelter Boxes. This long-standing Rotary project stores boxes containing a tent and survival equipment ready to be sent to disaster areas in any part of the world when required. We will also look into again taking a stall for a charity collection at Gardening Scotland next year. Colin Bayes reported on our recent win over Dalgety Bay in the Gavel competition.
Next meeting 26th October. Speaker's host Alex Galloway.
