Visit by A.D.G. John Holme + S.G.M.

Crawford Gordon, Sandy Farquharson, A.G. John Holme

Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 7th December.

President Sandy Farquharson welcomed ADG John Holme from Auchterarder to our meeting.  Next Friday will our Xmas lunch. Members are asked to note that there will be No Meeting of the club on 21st and 28th of December, resuming on 4th January 2019.

Special general meeting.  The treasurer had produced a current set of accounts which were approved by the members.  Office bearers for the year 2019/20 will be, President, Ranald Ross- Watt, SVP Alan Bradshaw.  Edmond Mansion continues as treasurer, and Alan Rankin will take over from Crawford Gordon as secretary.

Assistant District Governor John Holme gave us his thoughts on the current funding and organisation of Rotary. With 1.2 million members worldwide, it is a large organisation and like many such organisations the number of office bearers tends to increase making it less well connected to individual club Rotarians. Districts vary widely, with our own, 1010, having a particularly wide geographical spread making it difficult for clubs to work together in large projects, which would have a greater potential to help those in greatest need. John welcomed our comments and a wide range of topics was raised and usefully discussed.

Next week's meeting Xmas lunch. Speaker's host Faye McPherson, Visitor's
host Alan Skilling.
