Shona Morris of Cycling UK

On Thursday 3rd May, we were fortunate to have a visit from Shona Morris, Project Manager of Cycling UK. Shona, who lives locally, gave us a fascinating talk titled “The Big Bike Revival”.
We learned that the Scottish Government has an aim to increase cycling as a main means of transport from 1.2% to 10%. This would improve general health while protecting the environment.
This was delivered by a campaign to inspire people to start cycling through events held across the country – “The Big Bike Revival”. Some examples of the activities were Doctor Bike Sessions, Puncture Repair tutorials and Family Treasure Hunts.
Shona also made us aware of the Bothy at Gourock Train Station which has been set up as a centre to encourage cycling and walking in Inverclyde, something close to the heart of many of our members.
Shona was introduced by Bob Webster and the vote of thanks was given by Bob Wilson. They are pictured with President John.
