Distict Governor's visit

Mon 13th August 2018 at 19.30 - 21.30

District Governor Lesley Sulley paid us a visit and spoke about Rotary International President Barry Rassin’s theme for this Rotary year which is 'Be The Inspiration’

DG Lesley relayed President Barry's message to all Rotarians to remember that the work of Rotary does not begin or end with any one of us.  We have all been given the responsibility to learn from those Rotarians who have gone before us and to build a solid foundation for those who will follow us - by serving effectively, by serving efficiently, keeping accountability, keeping our transparency and changing lives in as many ways as possible.

He asks all Rotarians to ensure that Rotary continues to provide the best experience to our members, to ensure that our membership continues to grow and to ensure that we are being useful to the world, not only this year and next, but for the long-term future. RI President Barry asks us to inspire our fellow Rotarians to make a better job of telling communities what we do and embracing social media.

Lesley also reiterated that the importance of keeping the End Polio Now initiative going until we really have rid the world of this disease is second to none, and so she is asking all Rotary clubs within District 1240 to hold a World’s Greatest Meal during the week of World Polio Day – 24th October 2018.  Lesley also hopes that clubs will be planting yet more crocus bulbs in the autumn months, for flowering in February, and also to think about any local buildings or landmarks that could be floodlit in purple on 24th October.
