Club Meeting — Douglas Dow

Tue, Sep 18th 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Douglas Dow spoke about the 900 year history of the Order of St John, and Alistair Wilson proposed the vote of thanks.

President Mike Jane welcomed twelve other members, and commented on the success of the Six Clubs Dinner at the George Hotel, Inveraray, the previous Thursday evening, organised by the club and attended by 28 rotarians and partners from the Helensburgh, Helensburgh Garelochside, Mid-Argyll and Dunoon clubs.

Douglas Dow, wearing the mantle of a Knight of Justice of the Order of St John with its Amalfi cross, gave a carefully crafted talk on the 900 year history of the Order and its counterparts, and concluded with an update on the work of St John Scotland and St John Dunbartonshire today.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature, currently Deanston, was won by Donald Fullarton.
