Alice Morrison Adventurer

Wed, Sep 5th 2018 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Alice Morrison gave up her post as CEO of a quango to become a full time adventurer. She has appeared on TV and her third book is due out shortly.
She spoke of some of her adventures. Having just finished cycling from Cairo to Cape Town she ran in the Marathon de Sable across the Sahara Desert consisting of 6 marathons in 6 days, a total distance 156 miles. Competitors had to be self sufficient and carry what they required themselves. They were allowed 7 litres of water and were given salt tablets. She spent the nights sleeping 7 in a tent.
She had considerable pain especially in her feet. French volunteer nurses looked after them.

The sight of the FINISH line was a huge delight.

Alice’s next challenge is a 160 km trail round the base of Everest. She described this as a training event!

The club’s VOT was given by John Sellars OBE
