Borders Area Meeting

The first Borders Area meeting of the 2018/2019 Rotary year will be held on Tuesday 21st August and we will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair at the Union Club, 9 Peebles Road, Innerleithen, EH44 6QX.


The first Borders Area meeting of the 2018/2019 Rotary year will be held on Tuesday 21st August and we will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair at the Union Club, 9 Peebles Road, Innerleithen, EH44 6QX.  The Club meeting will get underway at 7.15pm, with the Area meeting commencing at 8.00pm.

 

Should you wish to join with members of IWT for their Club meal/meeting prior to the Area meeting, please let me know by Friday 17thAugust (if you are not attending, but someone else from your Club is, again please let me know if they will be joining IWT for their meal and fellowship).  The cost of the meal is £10.

'What We Do' Main Pages:

The Rotary Club of Dumfries Devorgilla have organised a free public fireworks display for Dumfries in partnership with the People’s Project on the Mill Green. We received a bronze medal from Cash for Kids for donations raised in 2017!

Bus Shelters

As part of out endeavours to keep Dumfries the "Queen of the South" we regularly clean bus shelters in the town centre

We have previously worked in partnership with Dalbeattie Community Initiative for a cycling sportive event on three routes around Dumfries and Galloway including a 100mile route! The event has raised £1600 for local charities.

An amazing £84,000 has been raised for local health causes over 9 successful years of the Run4Health. A partnership project with the NHS and Dumfries and Galloway Council as a truly family fun event.

Job Done

12 hour Cyclathon Challenge to cycle the distance from Tesco Dumfries to Tesco Stranraer and back. Our cyclists managed a distance of 267.2 miles and an amazing £2,069.09 was raised for Prostate Buddies D&G and Prostate Scotland.

Dragon Boat

We have organised Dragon Boats Festivals on River Nith, Dumfries in partnership with Dumfries Multi Cultural Society. All proceeds were provided to local good causes.

During the pandemic we have completed a series of Beach Cleans over 8 months and removed over 150kg of plastic waste from our beaches. This is part of our Making More of the Coast project.

Santa

Santa's Grotto was a partnership event with Gardenwise Plant and Garden Centre, Dumfries. Every weekend in December we provided a Santa's Grotto. An amazing £18,000 has been raised in total.
