The Final of the Rotary's Primary Schools Speechmaking Competition.

Tue, Mar 19th 2019 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Final of the Primary Schools Speechmaking Competition will take place on Tuesday the 19th March at 6:30pm in St Andrew’s Primary School.

The Primary Schools Speechmaking Competition is a local competition which was originated by the Lady Speakers Club and is now run annually by the Rotary Club of Dumfries.

This is the Final!

9 young speakers will take part having been selected from the first round of the competition on 22nd January when 31 youngsters took part.

Each of the nine finalists competing will speak for five minutes on “The Future of Our Planet”

The speechmakers’ are assessed against a set of criteria and 1st and Runner Up awards are given as well as an award for the most humorous speech.

In addition to the awards each winner will also be invited to be a guest on "Kids Alive" a feature in the "Alive Drive with Rab Smith" radio show on Alive 107.3, on a Friday (after school!) when they will have the opportunity to broadcast their winning speech to the world... twenty minutes of fame!

And there's more! The winners will be invited, all together, with a parent/responsible adult to attend a Friday lunch meeting of The Rotary Club of Dumfries where they will once more, each present their winning speech to the club's membership.

This event is well supported by our Primary Schools who welcome the opportunity for their pupils to showcase their public speaking skills. The imagination, creativity and confidence displayed is often astounding for ones so young...
