Oct 2018 Girton Memory Cafe - Harvest & Autumn Colours
Fri 5th October 2018 at 10.00 - 12.00
Organiser Richard de Horsey. The Memory Cafe welcomes All. A warm welcome for people with dementia or other problems associated memory loss (and their families / carers). Our ninety-first event! Theme - Harvest !
On a lovely sunny autumn day we had a lively gathering with red and yellow roses in our vases and chocolate fingers and cup cakes on the menu. We had some relaxed and cheerful tunes from the Flukes Ukelele Band and our own Entertainments troupe were in good voice. Our culture corner included two poems - one on theme about old varieties of apples (from Martin) and another - rather off topic - on the subject of Snoring ! (from Wendy). We sadly had to say goodbye to our friend Jamie who has been a regular driver and joker over the last 3 years - He will be much missed !
Helpers at 9am please.
Do come along and have some fun!
Doors Open 10.00am - 12.00pm on the first Friday morning of each month.
A Memory-Cafe is where there is a warm welcome for people with dementia or other problems associated memory loss (and their families / carers), who's new memories may be partial and confusing. The aim is to evoke old memories that are complete and comfortable through, for example, refreshments in china cups, home made cakes, photos and documents from past years, songs and poems and informal talks.
