Besides meeting for friendship, inviting speakers to give talks at their monthly dinners, and fundraising, the Inner Wheel Clubs of District 20 also find time to take each other on in a variety of sports.
District 20 covers nearly 30 clubs, covering such places as Chelwood, Wrington Vale, Shepton Mallet, Frome, Mendip, Wells , Glastonbury and Midsomer Norton and Radstock to name but a few.
Their competitive games include golf, and also include skittles, with various clubs taking it in turns to play for a prestigious skittles cup.
On a dark and dismal evening, hot on the heels of Storm Angus, the Inner Wheel Club of Chelwood Bridge met rivals Warminster for a game of skittles at the Red Lion in Paulton and won by a few points.
Team captain, Anne Parker, thanked the rival team, especially after they had come all the way from Warminster, in the wake of Storm Angus..They then all enjoyed a hearty supper, courtesy of the pub, before venturing back to their respective homes in the dark night.
