Running in the Himalayas
Bryn's guest speaker on the 25th September was David Baugh of Groes.
David gave a very interesting and informative talk, together with some fascintaing slides of some of the regions of the World that he and his wife Mennai have walked or run.
During the last few years they have taken part in many organised running events in the Himalayas including the Everest and Mustang regions. David gave us insight into the complex issue of oxygen content of the air at various altitudes, which man has to acclimatise to when visiting these regions - although, as David informed us, some of the hardened runners (and possibly local) can run a marathon at this high altitude in around 3hrs - David's time being a very good 6hrs and 40 minutes.
A very interesting evening - thank you Bryn for organising.
