SGM & Business Meeting

Mon, Dec 10th 2018 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

at SCCC

Special General Meeting and Club Business Meeting.

41 Club Members and Richard Dyke from Otter Valley Club sat down to an enjoyable three course 'Xmas ' meal.
This was followed by the SGM and the key decisions were:
1. The annual accounts prepared by Martin and examined by Rory were approved.
2. The appointment to four key Club positions for the coming year were approved - Philip Greenway as Vice-President, Bill Tregillus as Secretary, Martin Lock as Treasurer, and Colin Barrell as Club House Committee Chairman. Well done chaps!

Business Meeting: President Keith started by advising Members that John Binns had broken his leg and was still in some pain. Get well soon, John!
Halcon Project: the meeting approved £2500 for 'kitchen enhancement' at the new premises. Derek Johnson outlined the programme of Xmas activities on the Estate.

International: Kathryn advised that the Ruiru project continues, but that the local Rotary Club are now required to organise the building works, which will be funded by ourselves to the agreed budget.
House Programme: Tony advised that arrangements are complete to the end of March.
Communication: Richard advised that on February 11th there will be a briefing meeting to update all Club Members on how to access and USE the Club Website. Bring your own laptop or i-pad folks! He also restated that we could only communicate to Club Members the information that we receive from Council and Committee Chairmen - so more information please!
Moonraker: Stuart confirmed that our biggest charity event needs more commitment from all Club Members, as it cannot just be left to a small core to manage. Jonny advised that next year's Moonraker will be on October 5th, but the location has still to be confirmed.
Speaker Dinner 2019: this has been arranged for Saturday 16th March at The Castle Hotel and the Speaker is Richard Lewington, the retired British Ambassador to Ecuador. 50 of the 100 tickets have already been sold, and Members should contact Stuart Adam for tickets on a 'first come, first served!' allocation basis. Please note Stuart’s change of address – see separate email from the Secretary.
Next meetings: Xmas Party at Oake 7:00 for 7:30 on December 17th.
There are no meetings on 24th and 31st December,
Breakfast Meeting January 9th, and then
Speaker Meeting on January 16th Dr Barbara Bond on cartographic issues.
Ball draw won by John Bird, but still no Joker and so £60 next time.
