On Wednesday 3rd October 2018, around forty members, partners and friends of Leatherhead Rotary Club attended the club's weekly meeting at the Police Federation Headquarters in Leatherhead to see Gary Zabel, the club’s Immediate Past President, present a cheque for £15,000 to Jack Bacon from Prostate Cancer UK, the club’s main charity for support during the previous Rotary year.

This fantastic figure represents the largest single amount the club has ever donated to a charity and was raised through a wide variety of events throughout the preceding twelve months, including the club’s annual Golf Day and 10k Run, together with a very special sell-out Band Concert at Leatherhead Theatre, featuring the British Philharmonic Big Band, led by trombonist Andy Crompton, a close personal friend of Mr Zabel, and who himself was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014.
