In 2000 newly inducted Rotarians Juan Cunliffe and Nick Gidney created the first Northwich Swimathon which was held at the Moss Farm public swimming pool. Since then the Rotary Club has continued to arrange this annual event around March time. Regrettably the Corvid 19 Pandemic has necessitated the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 event but hopefully it will return in 2022.
The event takes place over two consecutive evenings when teams of 4 to 7 individuals are sponsored to swim in a relay style for 55 minutes. Following the closure of the Moss Farm pool the event has now transfered to the Brio Leisure facility at Memorial Court, Northwich.
Since its formation this exciting and fun event has raised over £160,000 for good causes and charity.
