President Mike Jane welcomed twelve others members to the meeting, and President-Elect Douglas Dow reported on the very successful Bridge Evening in Helensburgh Rugby Club the previous Friday in aid of Mercy Ships.
There were ten tables of four players, and with the aid of an excellent raffle and two donations the event raised £700. He expressed his thanks to all who helped on the night, and to the donors of raffle prizes. Associate member Derek Bowman acted as barman.
Douglas also reported on the Presidents-Elect Training Session at Erskine on Sunday, when the need to continue the End Polio Now campaign was stressed as without it the number of victims could increase rapidly.
The secretary gave details of the District 1230 Conference to be held at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel at Clydebank on Saturday and Sunday October 12 and 13. Anyone wishing a registration form should contact him.
The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Adam Muggoch.
