Club Meeting — John McCormick

Tue, May 21st 2019 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

John McCormick spoke about transport in Scotland, and Douglas Dow proposed the vote of thanks.

President Mike Jane welcomed eleven other members, and the secretary distributed the latest District 1230 magazine in which the club gains several mentions.

Douglas Dow thanked everyone who assisted with the can collection in Helensburgh Co-op on Saturday, and said that £522.42 was raised for the club's youth activities.

Bill Deans issued tickets for the D-Day 75th Anniversary Concert in the Victoria Hall on Thursday June 6 at 7.30pm, and asked members to bring raffle prizes to the next two club meetings.

John McCormick, chair of the Scottish Asssociation of Public Transport for the past five years, gave an analysis of the different forms of transport in use in Scotland today, noting in particular a large drop in the use of buses. He also reflected on the potential future uses of different forms of energy.

The vote of thanks was given by Douglas Dow, who then was the winner of the weekly draw for a whisky miniature.
