Culinary Delights at Whitchurch High.
It was a chilly morning when four pupils Abigail Clachan Davey, Miriam Foulkes, Benjamin Brailey and Lauren Davis made their way to Whitchurch High School laden with a multitude of ingredients. There was no particular theme, as the pupils had chosen to make their favourite dishes for the Rotary Young Chef 2018 competition.
They were asked to prepare a healthy three course meal for two people costing no more than £20. There was a range of very tasty unusual dishes prepared in two hours and the judges had a fantastic time tasting the delicious food.
Chef Beth from Whitchurch Golf Club and Mrs Sian Jones said the standard of dishes prepared by all was extremely high. They had an extremely difficult task choosing a winner and a runner up but, both agreed that the winner was Lauren Davis, with Miriam Foulkes as runner up.
Lauren will now go forward to the Rotary Young Chef Area Final which will take place before the 9th February.
All competitors worked very hard for the competition and they can all be proud of the meals they produced. A special thanks to their teacher Mrs Sarah Smith who advised and encouraged them during the preparation for the competition.
