Dr Kessler co-founded The Woolf Institute in 1998, an independent research centre affiliated with the University of Cambridge, to develop expertise in researching and understanding relations between the three Abrahamaic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. He has been described in The Times Higher Education Supplement as “probably the most prolific interfaith figure in British academia”, regularly appears in the media commenting on religion and belief issues of the day, and has written or edited 12 books on interfaith relations.
