A double presentation

District Grants Officer presented a cheque and collected another

District 1200 Grants Officer Stan Jones presenting a cheque to Past President Cate Whitewood

On Monday 26th November 2018, the Rotary District 1200 Grants Officer Stan Jones visited Yeo Vale Rotary Club and took part in a double presentation of cheques. He presented past president of Yeo Vale Cate Whitewood with a Rotary District 1200 matching grant cheque of £1,000 for the Busoga Trust, a charitable organisation refurbishing disused wells in rural Uganda to provide clean drinking water.

Stan was also the recipient of a cheque for £1,200 from Yeo Vale Rotary Club in support of the new Dorchester Hospital Radiotherapy Unit. The new facility means patients requiring radiotherapy in the East Somerset/West Dorset area can now choose to travel to Dorchester instead of Poole or Taunton. A big saving in time and cost.

Both projects benefited from Rotary district and global grants and Stan explained to the club how the Rotary matching grants system operates. For example the £60,000 plus Dorchester project was made up of approximately 70% of matching grants from various sources which really made the initial money raised multiply to reach the target.
