Toys for Christmas

Helping Santa with toys for needy children at Christmas

Rotary in Knaresborough have once again organised a collection of new toys to go to families in the area, identified by Social Services, where children are unlikely to receive presents this Christmas. The Salvation Army act as a confidential 'go-between' to ensure donated presents reach families in need. Presents are wrapped before being given to recipient families. Over the years, millions of children and young people have benefited from gifts donated to The Salvation Army.

Amongst the participating groups providing toys this year are Queen Ethelburga’s College, Gracious Street Methodist Church Knaresborough, All Saint’s Church Staveley and five Twinkles Nursery Schools in Knaresborough, Boston Spa, Wetherby, Leeds Centre and Leeds White Rose.

Rotarian David Robertson said, “The response has been absolutely superb and we are most grateful to all who have donated in the true spirit of Christmas”.

This is the fourth year that Rotary in Knaresborough have worked with the Salvation Army to provide needy children with toys at Christmas.
