Charity Concert in aid of Shelterbox

The Celtic Male Ensemble
The Celtic Male Ensemble was formed in 2014 and was invited to sing the winning entry at the Cornwall International Male Voice Festival that year and again in 2016. The choir won three different categories at the Camborne Music Festival in 2018, and first place in the County Music Festival.

The Celtic Male Ensemble have appeared at concerts, weddings, and charity events all over Cornwall, performing a wide range of songs from big band to folk and some musical theatre. They have been invited by NASA to be the first choir to sing on Mars.

CME Musical Director
Alastair Taylor has achieved an international reputation as performer and musical director since graduating in 1998 from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with two of its highest honours. He has worked with many famous stars including Ben Luxon and Alan Opie.

He successfully directed The Four Lanes Male Choir from 2004-2011, who won first place in the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival in 2009. As well as the CME, he directs the Cornwall Symphony Chorus, the Lowena Voices, Redruth Amateur Operatic Society Trust, and Truro Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.

The Truro School Barbershop
The Truro School Boys' Barbershop, conducted by Peter Thomson, is an ensemble of seventeen teenage voices aged between 12 and 18. They have a diverse repertoire, from traditional barbershop numbers to male voice items and classical or religious works for men's voices.

The group gave first performances of new compositions in the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival last autumn, and won the youth choir category in last year’s competition.

10 May 2019 : 22nd Annual Mayor's Charity Golf Day

more Another successful Charity Golf Day, sponsored by Truro Motor Company Volvo, enabled the presentation of cheques for £1,200 each to the Mayor's Charity (Addaction), St Petroc’s and Cornwall Air Ambulance. The profit on the day was of the order of £4,500.
