AGM and Business Meeting

Electing Council for next year, at Oake Manor Golf Club


33 members were at Oake Manor for the AGM and Business Meeting.

Pres Keith opened by saying that as there were no contesting candidates, no tellers were required and that all nominations for Council would be elected nem con.

The President for 2019-20, as elected at the SGM in December, would be Kathryn Robinson-Burge, President –elect Tony Blackshaw and President-Nominee Philip Greenway. Secretary Bill Tregillus, Treasurer Martin Lock

Main Committees: 

Community Service – John Binns

International/Foundation – Richard Austin

Vocational Service/Youth- Philip Greenway

House & Programme – Colin Barrell

Communications- vacant

Other Council members – Nigel Birkett, Malcolm Turner and Stephen Smith.

Business Meeting followed.

Reports – Treasurer Martin said that our finances were in a healthy state, but that because of a rise in District Capitation, our Club Sub would increase from £121 to £124 as from July. He gave figures for the Charity and Club funds.

Community Service – John Binns had sent a report – The Halcon Link project had got off to a fine start. BIBIC had asked for money to help fill a gap in funding. 

Youth/Vocational – The Technology Tournament had been a success, though with only one school taking part. It was hoped that lessons will have been learned to enable the event to take place next year with more participating.

International – The co-operation in Kenya with RC Ruiru has meant that our funding of the project to install Latrines was completed, but that Drinking Water was now on a wants list. A report with photographs was awaited and would be shown to Club when ready.

House/ Programme – Speakers and events were now in place up to July. A Speaker is sought for the meeting on 17th June when Inner Wheel would be catering for us, and any suggestions to Colin please.

Communications – The temporary Webmaster is A Janes. TuesdayGram will continue, but fresh reporters are needed – volunteers to Richard G.

Breakfast Club – this initiative by RCTV was paying off in that we have now inducted 7 new members to a Rotary Satellite Club, in a 40 plus age group, which would be furthering the Objects of Rotary but in a different way, Networking and Public Service.

District Conference 2020, at which our Rory O’Donnell would be DG, will be organised by Richard Goring and a sub-committee, to take place at Queens College on 3-5 July, and to be FUN. Volunteers were required to help with planning and procuring.

Bird Bath presentation at Abbeyfield

Taunton Vale Rotary Club has recently celebrated their 40th Charter anniversary. To mark the occasion the Inner Wheel Club of Taunton Vale have donated a bird bath, and this was handed over to Abbeyfield Residential Home in Bishops Hull.
