INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS

Chichester Harbour Rotary Club was chartered in 1998. It is a relaxed, informal and fun club.  Members meet weekly for breakfast, but also enjoy evening social events.

President 2022/23 - Anna Hutchings                 Secretary 2022/23 - Elaine Hind

  • The Club currently has 48 members plus 2 honorary members and 1 Rotary Friend, and aims to maintain a ratio of 50/50 men/women.
  • Dress code is smart casual.
  • Meetings are held weekly on Wednesdays at 7.15am for 7.30am at Chichester Park Hotel PO19 7QL (Goodwood/Madgwick Lane roundabout) and finish by 8.30am. Breakfast is either Continental (£6.50) or Full English (£9.00), payable weekly. Interested individuals/potential memebrs are invited to attend meetings (but not Business Meetings). All are very welcome. If members wish to bring guests they should inform gilllewis1947@googlemail.com or nick.mason@talktalk.net in advance.
  • Programme. Meetings are designated as Fellowship, Business or Speaker meetings. On the 5th Wednesday of any month we try and hold a social or evening meeting to which wives, husbands, partners and friends may be invited.
  • Apologies. There is an apologies book on the payment table for noting future meeting dates that you are unable to attend. Alternatively, short-notice apologies can be given by emailing http://breakfast.apologies@outlook.com by noon latest on the prior Tuesday, to assist with the hotel food order for meetings.
  • Extended Leave of Absence.  Any member intending to be absent for more than 2 months should advise the President, Secretary and their Committee Chair.
  • Meeters and Greeters. Two members each week are designated on the Club calendar to welcome members and non-members at Club breakfasts; they also say grace and give the vote of thanks at Speaker meetings. If the designated person is unable to attend on the scheduled date, that person is responsible for finding a substitute.
  • Teams. All members are allocated to a Committeee: Youth, Community, International, Fundraising and Foundation, Environment, Membership or Club Administration. Members are encouraged to rotate around Committees at least every 3 years to broaden their Rotary experience.
  • The Rotary year runs from 1 July to 30 June.
  • Handover refers to the meeting when the annual presidency changes from the current to the new President, and the chain of office is passed on. This occurs on the nearest possible date to 1 July.
  • The Club’s Charter Day (the Club's 'birthday') is celebrated in April (or as soon as is practical).
  • The Club’s AGM is held in April and reviews the previous 12 months. In June the incoming President and new Committee Chairs present their ideas for the coming year at Club Assembly.
  • Membership Fee. The current annual membership fee is £130.00. This can either be paid annually, no later than 1st July, or in two equal 6-monthly instalments before 1 July and 1 January.
  • Further information about the Club’s members, meetings, fundraising and volunteering activities and wide range of social events can be found on our website at: https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/homepage.php?ClubID=1830   Log on as a new member for details.
