Rotarians’ Litter Pick for Ashfield

The second phase of Kirkby Rotary’s campaign to support the Big Ashfield Spring Clean

The second phase of Kirkby Rotary’s campaign to support the Big Ashfield Spring Clean went into action on May 21st.

A dozen or so Rotarians and friends carried out an intensive litter pick in the area around Morrisons supermarket in Kirkby, using equipment provided by Ashfield District Council.

Organiser Rotarian Mark Cawar said “Rotary support a number of local community projects, and we are keen to assist ADC with this initiative to make Ashfield a cleaner place to live and work.”

The results of the two-hour Rotary litter pick were many kilos of rubbish collected, a cleaner car park and a sense of a job well done.  The pickers’ comment was: “We had a great evening”.

The Big Ashfield Spring Clean began in February.  Kirkby Rotary are planning phase three in the next few weeks.
