May 2019 Update

Bank Holidays and a look back on our Rotary Year

Rannerdale Knotts

We were delighted to welcome Andy Cunningham, Head Teacher of The Lakes School, Windermere to our meeting on May 21st.  Andy gave an outline of the problems facing him as the new Head and how the school is now benefiting from his philosophy that all students, whatever their ability, should be encouraged to fulfil their individual potential and their ambitions.

Now a vibrant school where students of all abilities achieve well and pride themselves on providing a caring, learning community, the school credits itself on the excellent association between young people, parents, staff, governors and the new Lakes School Community Partnership.

It was a pleasure to hear how our help with the purchasing of a 3D digital printer had helped  the Technology Department, bringing great enthusiasm to both the staff and pupils!

At the AGM we took a look back over the year at our numerous events and meetings via the inevitable Powerpoint presentation!  All agreed we have achieved so much in just 10 months, from Virtual Duck Races to retrieving a broken boat from the River as part of the Community 'Litter Pick'
