Tue, Nov 5th 2019 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Secretary read the minutes of the October Board Meeting.

President Douglas Dow welcomed sixteen other members. The secretary confirmed that there would be no club meetings on Tuesdays December 24 and 31, and later read the Minutes of the October Board meeting.

Bill Jones asked members to publicise the annual Wine Tasting in the Commodore Hotel on Friday November 15, and also asked for raffle prizes. Bill Deans invited members to help decorate the club's entry in the United Reformed Church Christmas Tree Festival on Monday December 9.

International convener Reay Mackay spoke about the background to his becoming involved in the 'Building Malawi' project, which the Board has approved as a club project to be led by the international committee.

It is hoped that Helensburgh — including the club and St Michael's Episcopal Church — can raise £5,500 by April, which, with match funding from RI and Rotary Foundation and in conjunction with the Colchester Centurion club, would amount to £16,500 to pay for one of sixteen new classrooms at the Lingadzi Sports Academy, to be named the 'Helensburgh' classroom.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Graham Smith, and the monthly raffle, for a special Viking edition of 12 year-old Higland Park malt whisky, was won by Henri van der Stighelen.
