Ledbury Carnival

Mon 26th August 2019 at 09.00 - 14.00

As part of the carnival theme of Ledbury at Sea, our float was called Rotary cleans up - highlighting plastic pollution. We won 1st prize in the large floats

A real team effort resulted in first prize in the large float category for our float.  Many members helped create the float.
We had a trawler with a fishing net trapping loads of plastic waste and much of the float used recycled materials including ground sheets recovered from the Big Chill clear up and water bottles from the Welland Steam Rally. The Jelly fish was much admired.   We also had Rotarians picking up discarded palstic bottles from the "beach". It took over two months for members and friends to collect all the plastic which was recyled afterwards.

Martin co-ordinated the work with good input from his family and young Jacob (David West's grandson) really enjoyed his first experience of the float.

Our thanks to ABE for the lorry and our driver Dave who got us safely round the town
