Some 65 delighted guests joined in the fun, food and festivities at The Great Get Together Summer Afternoon Tea sponsored by The Rotary Club of Skipton Craven on Sunday afternoon 23rd July at Embsay with Eastby Village Institute.

This Summer celebration of companionship and friendship was laid on for Craven residents who, for a variety of reasons, have few opportunities to meet others and enjoy events, and welcomed being part of a community get together. Guests feasted on a delicious selection of sandwiches, scones, cakes and sweeties whilst supping tea, coffee and fizz and enjoying fellowship together.

Entertainment included Magician Mark Waddington spellbinding and amazing each table with his tricks; 30 members of The Skipton Choir, under the direction of David Weale, uplifted all with a selection of inspiring songs - numbers included Mr Blue Skies and He ain’t heavy he’s my brother; bingo and a raffle concluded the festivities.

Event organiser, Rotarian David Squire thanked all those who helped support, organize, run, and entertain at the event, including Tesco Skipton, Carers’ Resource Skipton, Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington, Skipton Slimming World, Skipton Soroptimists, The Skipton Choir, Mark Waddington, and Rotary club members and their partners. He hoped a similar event could be repeated this Christmas.
