Job Talk - Colin Aspinall

.

Our planned speaker was unable to attend the meeting and  Colin Aspinall, one of new members, stepped into the void with a Job Talk. Colin informed us that he joined the Merchant Navy as a junior engineer in 1966. He was promoted to 2nd engineer in 1974 but despite obtaining his Chief engineers ticket he never took up post due to the reduction in the number of ships. In 1984 he decided he had had enough of spending months at Sea and obtained a land based post with a technical Services company in Rosyth. Colin gave us a very interesting talk on life at sea and the dangers he had experienced from Pirates. He also told us about his love of Scuba Diving and his other hobbies. Having joined Rotary recently he said he now wished he had joined much earlier.
