Moonraker Test Walks.

Meeting up at Oake Manor, the walking members were allocated 3 to a car and driver, supplied with a map and directions sheet, and banished to the four winds. Each group checked a segment of the whole route for accessibility, and whether it was possible to answer the question provided for the clues. The driver, meanwhile, got himself lost in the labrynth of minor roads, as he tried to intercept the walkers as they crossed paths. (This driver gave up and went to the finish point and kipped). My team lost some time in trying to find a clue, so exceeded that estimated, but eventually we all arrived back at Oake to enjoy a hot meal.

25 members took part, plus 4 guests.

Business. President Kathryn welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for taking part.

She then said “Thank you to Jim and the Breakfast Club for organising such a lovely afternoon on Sunday, especially for arranging such wonderful weather. Please could you organise the weather for Moonraker to be as good??

Although I am grateful to the core group of Rotarians that went along to enjoy this lovely social occasion I am sincerely disappointed that more members from the Main Club did not go turn up to show their support. The Breakfast members support our events as much as they’re able with young families and busy work lives and I think it’s a poor reflection on our Club the we couldn’t even turn up to show our support and appreciation on such an enjoyable social occasion. A wise man once said: “Turning up is 80% of life”. This Club needs to consider that.”

She reported that at the District Forum, Club Secretary Bill Tregillus was presented with the Skittles Trophy which RCTV had won recently. It was then found to be the Golf Trophy so was taken back again. The Skittles Cup is still missing - For two pins…….

Next week 23rd September Meeting at Oake. Moonraker Briefing and Business. d/r F Derek Johnson.

30th September “Out” at Hollywood Bowl.

All apologies please to D Janes for both meeting dates.

Ball Draw, Phil Greenway drew a wine card.
