Evening meeting - gavel for members

On Thursday 12th September 2019 President Ewen Macdonald welcomed 13 Rotarians and prospective new member Chris Harris to this our evening casual meeting, which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

On reception, this week was Peter May.

The meeting commenced where we discussed Club business which was followed by teas/ coffees/ sandwiches and then a Gavel competition. Great fun and fellowship were had and an intro into the Gavel competition for the new members run by Geoff Sampson.

Geoff Sampson mentioned to members about last week’s meeting when we had heard from out RYLA students who gave feedback on their experiences at the camp he also mentioned that we had been drawn against Cowdenbeath, Leven and Perth in this year’s Gavel competition to be played at the Gilvenbank Hotel with a date of the 9th October 2019 confirmed with all clubs.

The Annual Presidents golf trophy took place on Wednesday 11th September 2019 at Thornton Golf club with 4 Rotarians and 4 guests participating. Geoff Sampson beat Iain Haywood on a count back 8- 7 on the last 6 holes after both had scored 18 points out and 12 back. Guest Steve Grist once again had the best guest score of 28 points.

Anne Sampson’s past Presidents dinner will take place at Balgeddie Hotel on the 18th October and names are being taken for that.

The annual Desert Islands Discs evening on 26th September 2019 which is a great evening with names being taken now.

This coming week’s meeting on Thursday 19th September 2018 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 12.45pm for a 12.55pm start. Our speakers this week will be the World Challenge pupils from Glenrothes High School who will be giving us a talk on their forthcoming Belize trip.
