Rotary Defibrillators
Two life-saving defibrillators are available to the public 24 hours every day -
thanks to Birstall Luddites Rotary Club.
During the Rotary year of Past President Jeremy 2018/19 his and the clubs aim was to buy and install 2 public access defibrillators one in Howden Clough Birstall and one at the
Batley CommunityCentre.   This is fully supported into year 19/20 by President Keith.

The Club raised over £3000 since starting their Defibrillator project
Jeremy was delighted to announce the successful installation in July of 2 defibrillators and they are located at two community centres one in Batley and one at Howden Clough community centre
A defibrillator, sometimes known as an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a small electronic device designed to allow minimally-trained people to provide lifesaving defibrillation (electric shock to the heart) to victims of sudden cardiac arrest. The device analyses and looks for shock-able heart rhythm, advises the rescuer of the need for defibrillation and delivers a shock if needed.automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
The AEDs we have fitted are easy to use, compact, portable and very effective.  They are designed to be used by laypersons; the machine guides the operator through the process by verbal instruction and visual prompts.  They are safe and will not shock unless the machine detects that it is necessary to do so.

Anyone can get a person suffering a cardiac arrest immediate life-saving treatment simply by ringing 999. When they do this they will be told that a defibrillator is available and the emergency services will tell them how to use it. They will be given a code number so that they can open the safe and take the defibrillator to the patient.

Thanks to Bill and Tony for installing the defibrillators.

In the Birstall area there are Public AEDs at the Scotland pub on Bradford Road and at the Community Centre/Library in Birstall (traders).
Howden Clough Community Centre (Rotary)

At Junction 27 Retail Park there is a defibrillator in the M&S store for use of any shop in the Retail Park
there maybe others in the Retail Park.
