The Public Speaking Competition for the Young
This year once again Youth Speaks , the Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh senior school public speaking competition will be held at Brockhill College of Performing Arts. Previous winners of the competition have been The Harvey Grammar School, Folkestone School for Girls and Brockhill Performing Arts College.The competition will take place on Wednesday 5th February 2020. A light lunch for competitors and supporters will take place at 12 o’clock
This Rotary competition gives young people an experience in speaking on a public platform working as a member of a team.
- It gives them incentive to formulate ideas on a topical subject of their own choosing.
- It gives them discipline in dealing with a topic in a limited time.
- The opportunity of learning and practicing high standards of expression ,presentation and appearance.
- The opportunity to listen to impartial feedback and assessment of performance by experienced adjudicators.
- The competition will comprise of teams of three students in full time education in two age groups
Senior 14 to 17 years
With the qualifying date of 31st August 2019, it should be noted that some intermediate entrants may be 14 and senior entrants 18 at the time of the competition.
The competition is run by The Rotary Club of Hythe on behalf of The Rotary Clubs of SHEPWAY Working for Youth.
