Clothing for Asylum Seekers

A collaboration between the Rotary Clubs of Derby Daybreak and Derby to provide support for local asylum seekers.

Members from the Derby Club have been supporting a project led by the Rotary Club of Derby Daybreak to collect clothes and toys for asylum seekers that are currently being accomodated at the Midland Hotel, next to Derby's Train Station.

Many of the asylum seekers are fleeing war torn countries and have arrived in the UK with nothing. They are unable to access any benefits so are relying on donations to support them.

We are making weekly collections/deliveries to the hotel alongside Jane Cryer from Derby Daybreak.

Most recently we worked with Lee Hollowbone, supervisor at East Midlands Railway who organised a donation of unclaimed lost property to the project and or Club President, Les Bryan and President-Elect, Angus Currie collected these and delivered three car loads of clothes, toys, suitcases and handbags to the hotel.

If you would like to make a donation please contact Les Bryan by clicking on his details below.
