Citizen of the Year 2015-2016

During the last few months, no other project has made as big an impression on Hucknall Rotarians than the pioneering Frame Football team based at Hucknall’s Rolls Royce Leisure Club.  Frame football offers a unique version of the globally-loved game to children  who require frame support to walk.  Hucknall proudly boast the largest Frame Football club in the world.

One of the inspiring footballers Logan Scothern attended the latest meeting of Hucknall Rotary Club along with his father Anthony and coach John Cheetham where President Kevin Rostance presented the Hucknall Rolls Royce Leisure Frame Football Club with a cheque for £ 400 and a promise of continued support from the Hucknall Rotarians.

In a surprising twist to the evening, President Kevin then announced that the club wished to present it’s ‘Citizen of the Year’ award and had decided that the coach of the Frame Football team, John Cheetham, was the worthy recipient of this year’s award.

President Kevin Rostance said, “ When John Cheetham addressed the club earlier in the year, we were all impressed with his passion and vision in making a difference and for the enthusiastic way he has adapted his coaching skills to reach out and ensure that children with walking difficulties can share in and play the game loved by so many.  In presenting this award we want to pay our own recognition not just to John but the whole Rolls Royce team of which John is a part. “
