Club history - what to expect

.

A video presentation by Ian Greig, Chair of the Club’s History Working Group, was made to members.

The presentation updated members on the forthcoming two publications resulting from the groups activity since 2019.

Reminding Members of the 25 year Book and its content, Ian explained how these two 40 year booklets had developed.

The Members 40 year Bulletin would restrict annual reports to one page with the exception of year1 (1981) and year 40 (2021) which would be 2 pages. In addition, the bulletin content  would report on our 3 District Governor Years, details on current and past members , our various charity projects and our “local hero’s”. It would have a good sprinkling of photos to display and support the text.

The Colour Brochure was a much simpler presentation, with the intended external (and internal) audience  being advised/reminded of the club’s Rotary work in our community and abroad, over our 40 years. This brochure would be widely circulated and Mike Rowe supplemented the video presentation by explaining in detail his circulation plans and seeking members support and approval . He detailed his expenditure forecasts for printing and distribution and it was agreed that these would be discussed at Council next Monday and proposals put to members at our meeting on Wednesday next.

Members questions were responded to and confirmation that each member would get a copy of these two publications and members support for the wider circulation of the Colour Brochure, particularly at the local farmers Market stall managed by Derek Douglas on the 12th of June 2021, was obtained.

A full expression of members support of the work of the History Group , and its proposals ,was given by Jim West , in his vote of thanks.
